SHE KEEPS SHAKING

Can anyone out there help us with our dane Rosie?

We have had her since a pup, she has not been spade but has never had a litter. She is 8 now and very healthy, but about three months ago she started shaking. We thought it was her being cheeky...it would happen when we were going out as if she didn't want us to leave her! But now it's all the time and she keeps panting and whining in the way only a dane can. She has also started digging her way to Australia in one part of the garden and keeps curling up in places more suitable for our miniature dachshund.

The vet thinks it may be a phantom pregnancy, which she has already had once. But I'm worried that its some kind of mental problem. Sometimes she looks depressed and anxious and she has taken to getting us up in the middle of the night as if she's terrified of something.

As I said she is 100% healthy in every other way and very happy most of the time. Could this just be a phantom pregnancy?? Has anyone else come across these symptoms.

get your vet to check for 'Atkinsons desease', my brothers dog had similiar symptoms and its often misdiagnosed by vets first time.
Atkinsons makes the dog 'depressed and anxious ' too.

My brothers dog did die from addisons desease, but if it's diagnosed in time it can be treated.

My dane Jade had Addisons,,,,,and it is treatable,,,she didn't start with the symtoms that your dane has,,,,Jade actually had breathing diffuclties,and at one stage ''passed out'',,it was then the vet suggested AD,,,,and the ACTH test confirmed this,,but until it was confirmed,he said if she passed out again,,without the right medication,,he could not guarrantee that she would 'come round',,its also a human condition,coz if I could not get the tablets from the vet,I got them from the chemist,,,,,,sadly after 2yrs of AD,I lost Jade to a heart attack,,,,,,she was 71/2yrs old,,,,I miss her deeply,,,,,,,

Thank you for all your help. I did keep coming across this Addisons disease in my research and wondered if it was one and the same.

With regards to Rosie she has now ripped her bed to shreds and still shakes. But she stops when lying in front of the fire, although I'm sure she's not cold. If there is no improvement after the phantom pregnancy medication I shall tell the vet about Addisons and see where we go from there.
