House Trainned

Hi

Please help we have two, twelve months great danes. Tara who has just started her first season at nearly twelve months and sophie who is ten days younger and yet to start hers. On average they walked at least twice a day. About a month ago Tara has started to pooh in the front room. When walking she won't do anything whilst we are out with her come back home go straight into the front room and pooh in there or we will let her out last thing at night and she'll go out and then come in and do it again. She's not particular which room she uses and will use them all. This is happening twice may be three times a day. It's not always the same spot. Sophie has also done it a couple of times since tara started. Please help as the house is starting to smell.

You could start taking them out or letting them out into the garden one at a time at very short intervals. I wouldn't let either out of sight until they have gone. If they have been going at regular times up until now, I wouldn't let them back in until they had done everything.

The alternative is to crate train them. You leave them with a smallish area (just enought to lie down and sleep) as they tend not to soil their sleeping area.

I don't envy you the problem. I'm lucky that mine only poop once a day, but we do have the problem that Teko doesn't always know when he needs to do so and messes the house on occasion.

Ho dear.......what an awful thing to happen.
Cannot imagine why that is happening.....however, suggest you reward with a treat when they do it outdoors, and ignore them when they do it indoors (sure you know that already).

My OH says consider vinyl flooring (witty pillock).

I always take Flint out when he has been fed, and give praise,and treats if need be as I had a dreadful job house training him in the first place..piddle everywhere.

I'm sure a dog psyche will pop up soon with some wisdom for you, you could try ringing Lizzi at Daneline, she knows all about their 'little ways'.
