Hi

I'm not sure if I qualify for the Great Dane Owners club. My OH and I have two Great Dane x with Rhoesian Ridgeback brother aged 2 in Feb. We only had them since August from a rescue centre. They are the size of Danes and look very similair and both have ridges!

I have viewed this forum a few times to check out advice on Bloat prevention and general care and found it really useful.

Welcome to the forum. Of course you qualify, you will see on another thread that lots of our Danes are taken for Ridgebacks anyway.

Congratulations on taking on two rescues.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes they are gorgeous although I am very very biased 😊 The funny thing is my OH wanted a Rhodesian Ridgeback or a Great Dane so we decided we'd try to rescue a Ridgie then get a Great Dane. Then these two boys came up for rehoming so we got the perfect compromise!

We had then since the end of August and they will be two in February. Since people have asked here are some more pics....

Thank you very much. I've enjoyed browsing this forum and will post. We're not sure which parent the boys take after in terms of temperment, they're very laid back in the house and spend alot of time sleeping. When they are awake they want to play with their many, many toys (a little spoilt on this front, as they have a sack of toys!). They run off the lead on walks and can go for an hour and half run, then we get home and they will sleep for the majority of the day. Scooby likes to greet people with a toy or shoe in his mouth, infact he will actively look for something to pick up, I often find a missing shoe in the most annoying places.

What do you think are they like Danes?

It's hard to see the ridgeback except the mohican, and if you read some posts on here danes do have them...a friwnd of mine has a 20wk old fawn pup that has a ridge all the way down her neck!
