Since coming to UK and getting a second opinion from my new vet and finding out that Khan does not have a gluten allergy, I have been able to change him from complete food to raw tripe, mixer (either winalot or supadog triple mixer), and veggies.

Although Khan is a good eater, I find that he really doesnt find breakfast very exciting. I have been giving him less in the morning and more in the evening as I hate wasting his food. He loves his dinner and has 800 g tripe, two huge cups of biscuit, veggies and herbal supps and looks for more.

Bearing in mind bloat etc, I was wondering what peoples opinions' were on feeding the whole meal in the evening. This was a given for our previous dogs, but being a giant breed I wondered whether this would be detrimental to Khan or not 🤔

Sorry about it be a bit of a stupid question 🥷 but I was hoping for some general input

Thanks guys.

Hi Lisa

When I had rescues in that weren't morning people, I was advised that all they needed in a morning was something to start their stomachs going this could be a slice of toast, chicken wing, etc and the main meal fed at evening.

This worked for a few of them, apart from George who thinks breakfast time lasts all day 😄

hope this helps

Hi Lisa, I had the same prob with Shadow and she never has brekkie before 9:30 either....as you know her tum has been off so she was a lot hungrier when I finally got her back on her norm food and she has eaten her meals a bit better so far!!! I'm not suggesting you starve him or anything but per haps try giving him a smaller eve meal for a couple of days and see if he eats better in the morning????? Sorry if you have tried this already but just a thought.
Godd luck and give that handsome boy a cuddle from me XX

Lisa,

I feed Lucas and Zaire 2 meals a day now and they get 1/3 for brekkie and 2/3 for a late dinner. I keep them quiet after both meals for at least an hour.

We give Molly two smaller meals a day, the only reason she will get off her bed in the morning is when her breakfast is served but if the sun is shining on her she may not bother!!

She has to have food an hour after her pills (twice a day) so we are somewhat governed by that anyway.

Lisa ...Buggerlugs here is "so-so" regarding breakfast, sometimes too lazy/not bothered, but always wolfs it down if he`s had plenty of exercise before it - (a quick, early blat round the park, chase the cat, or a damn good play fight!) Just a suggestion. 😊

L.x.

PS> he still "demands" some form of late supper too, and (fingers crossed) no problems!
(I know he`s still young regarding this!)

Okay - will keep up with what I am doing - he is either downright retarded or extremely clever.

I have not decided which yet <_<

Lisa,

Otto & Mimi are not morning eaters either, Erik definately is. Generally Erik is a gut bucket..... 😂 😂 They get a couple of spoonfuls for breakkie with the majority of their food for lunch and tea time.

Glad to hear the allergies weren't really allergies 🥷

Befoe we adopted Maude Alfie was definately not a morning muncher, since we had them both he is a lot more competitive and hungry,

They used to have breakfast and dinner.. 😊 Then Moto (Maude) bloated and tortioned... so was recommended 3 a day...great for Mrs Greedy Guts..who would love 10 meals a day....

Now they have breakfast, "high tea" and dinner! 😂 Alfie and Maudes fav!! 😄 XXX

Must be a dane thing, like the knee sitting and leaning.... They just cant be botherd to get up to eat in the morning, AFTER ALL THEY MUST BE REALLY TRIED AFTER SLEEPING ALL NIGHT....LOL LOL LOL 😛

Blooming hell I went through trying find a complete food that he would actually eat - and there he goes stuffing winalot and tripe!

Decided to stick with the smaller breakfast and the larger dinner - although he would supersize it if he could 😂
